Ser Mulher e o uso Problemático de Álcool e Outras Substâncias Psicoativas

Abstract

From the report of the life trajectory of women who have already made problematic use of alcohol and / or other psychoactive substances, this study aimed to understand the perception that these women have of the treatment received by them in their family relations, social relations and health services. The reports were obtained through phenomenological interview, being analyzed from existential hermeneutics. The results were grouped in the following Units of Meaning: the first contact with alcohol and other psychoactive substances; the university context; pain, distress and the use of substances; stigma of the woman user, social humiliation and violence. From the themes that were revealed in the analysis, it was observed that women live in a symbolic place, historically built, marked by several idealistic meanings about what it is to be a woman. In addition, the use of alcohol and other psychoactive substances contributes to these women experiencing violence and social humiliation. In this way, health professionals must pay attention to these historical and cultural processes that permeate women in problematic use, in order to reconfigure practices in prevention and health promotion, as well as treatment.
